CATHERINE HARLOW, FACULTY
Mary Catherine “Cathy” Harlow was born in San Diego in 1949 to Paul and Catherine Harlow. Her father, a Poway native and World War II veteran, and her mother, who had moved to San Diego from Iowa, initially lived in a small apartment where the City College Learning Resource Center now stands. She attended parochial grade school and parochial high school in San Diego and later completed a B.A. and M.A. at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles).
In 1985, Catherine accepted a faculty position at City College and her tenure as a Philosophy professor spanned 28 years. She discusses growing up in San Diego, coming of age during the Civil Rights Movement, her teaching experiences at City College, and her music career.
