City College Zine Fest is an annual event where students showcase their original zines. 100% of these zines are made by City College students on topics that are personal and important to them.
If you're a current student interested in displaying your zine at City College Zine Fest, please use the submission form! All submissions are due November 10th, 2025 at 11:59 PM!
A zine can be described as a homemade publication created using readily available materials. They are platforms of expression that may reflect political, personal, or research-based topics. The San Diego City College Library aims to make student-made zines available to the City College Community to explore topics personal and relevant to our students. Our intention is to support zine authorship, diversity, DIY culture, and self-expression. Student zines shall be selected from the pool of zines accepted to the annual City College Zine Fest based on the following criteria:
Creativity and originality
Diverse or culturally relevant themes
Strong theme/purpose
Use of appropriate citations
Zines added to the library’s collection will be viewable in person at the San Diego City College Library by students, faculty, staff, and community members. Library patrons will not be able to borrow the zines from the library, and zines are intended for in-library-use-only. Zines will also be discoverable in the library’s online catalog. Required fields include:
Zine title
Author name (When submitting their zine to Zine Fest/the library collection, students may choose to have their zines cataloged under an alias.)
Subject headings
A short zine summary
Students can also opt in to have a digital copy of their zine viewable in the library’s online database.
