Displays & Exhibits in the Library

The SDCC Library hosts displays and exhibits on a variety of topics that may be educational, cultural, civic, charitable or recreational in nature. Some exhibits are free-standing; other displays may be found on bulletin boards, glass cases, and shelving around the building. Come in and take a look during the Library hours of operation!

Displays and exhibits may be curated by SDCC students, faculty, staff, and Library personnel.  To arrange for a display or exhibit in the Library, please see our Exhibits & Displays Guidelines at the bottom of this page.

Veterans Day and Voting

This double display of books honored our Veterans and reminded everyone to Vote in the November elections. See also our Veterans Day resource list and our library guide on Elections.

Day of the Dead display

Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead Ofrenda

The campus community was invited to contribute to the library's ofrenda by honoring the memory of a loved one or friend with a photo or writing their name on a colorful wooden stick as remembrance. See more photos and paper flower instructions. RTVF student Sophia Silva created a wonderful video of the related outdoor event, which included personal interviews and students making paper flowers and Mexican papel picado.

Lowriders

This display was created to support the World Cultures Event, "Lowriders: Demystifying the Stereotypes." See Resource Lists: It's In the Library page for a list of related Library materials, including books and articles. If you missed the event, you can watch this video.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

This display was created to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th to October 15th).

Constitution Week

This display was created to support the SDCC Political Science Department's "28th Amendment Contest" in celebration of Constitution Week. See also Resource Lists: It's In the Library page for a list of related Library materials, including books, articles & videos.

Exhibits & Displays Guidelines

San Diego City College Library welcomes the students, faculty, and staff of San Diego City College to use the various display and exhibit areas in the Library. Space is provided for displays and exhibits of an educational, cultural, civic, charitable or recreational nature. The Library especially encourages exhibition of materials produced by students and faculty, and materials celebrating diverse cultures.
