Welcome to the Family Study Room! This space is available for students with children. It includes child-size comfortable seating, a drawing easel  and an activity table, plus computer workstations for up to two adults (students). 

Room Rules & Procedures

  • Room must be booked ahead of use. (See blue button below).
  • Maximum of 6 people in the room.
  • Check-in at the Circulation Desk.

To maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone, we kindly ask that you follow these guidelines:

  • Follow the Student Code of Conduct and Library Study Room Policies.
  • Stay with your child at all times. If a child is left unattended, campus police will be contacted for their safety.
  • Help us keep the space clean by tidying up after yourself and your child. Small snacks and drinks with lids are allowed, but please avoid messy or odorous foods.
  • Keep noise and disruptions to a minimum to respect others. [Use headphones for any audio to avoid disturbing others.]
  • What is disruptive behavior? Disruptive behavior includes any actions that are inappropriate for a library setting and that interfere with others' work. This applies to both children and adults. Please refer to the SDCCD Student Code of Conduct for more details. If library staff observe disruptive behavior or a violation of the guidelines, a polite reminder will be given to address the issue. Repeated issues may result in loss of access to the space.

Yo Soy STEM Makerspace R301

About this Spacephoto of objects you can make in the Makerspace

Welcome to the Yo Soy STEM Makerspace, located near the elevator on the third floor of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) in room R301. This creative hub is open to all SDCC students, whether you're enrolled in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program or not!

Bring your ideas to life through design, fabrication, and customization with the following equipment: 

  • Cricut machine: you can cut over different 100 types of materials using this digital smart cutting machine 
  • Glowforge laser cutter:  you can cut wood, cardboard, leather, and acrylic
  • Coming soon! 3D printer : you can make three-dimensional objects out of plastic filament (PLA)
  • Coming soon! mug press: you can press a design in vinyl onto a mug

No prior experience with these machines is necessary. Yo Soy STEM staff will show you how to use the equipment. 

Rules & Procedures 

  • Access to the Makerspace is by appointment only, for a particular machine.
  • Appointments are for 1 hour.  The first appointment is a training appointment on the selected machine.
  • Materials are provided to students at no cost to create prototypes. Students who wish to create items in bulk would need to bring their own supplies.
