In order to use any of the services Basic Needs offers, students must check in using their Student ID and Single Sign On information. 

Resources
  • Knights Table Food Pantry
    • Located in the T Building in room T-150. Students can come by to get something to eat or drink. 
    • Spring Hours: Monday-Wednesday 10am-4pm, Thursdays, 10am-3pm, and Fridays 10am-1pm.
  • Knights Threads & Things
    • Located in the T Building in room T-150. Knights Threads & Things is the space on campus that has free, gently used clothing suitable for interviews, work, or school, as well as household items. Donations of clean, gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories suitable for a student to wear to in a professional setting are sincerely appreciated. Items can be dropped off at the Knights' Table Emergency Food Pantry during open hours. 
    • Spring Hours: Monday-Tuesday 10am-4pm, Wednesdays Closed, Thursdays, 10am-3pm, and Fridays 10am-1pm.
  • Fresh Cutz Barbershop
    • Created with the student community in mind, Fresh Cutz goes beyond just offering haircuts. It's a hub for student support services, including counseling and more. Discover a space where grooming meets guidance, designed to support and uplift our students every step of the way.
    • Spring Hours: Mondays-Tuesdays 10am-12pm.
  • Basic Needs Assessment
    • Students will login with their Single Sign On (regular username and password you use for school) and complete the assessment form which will take ~10mins. Someone from our team will then reach out to you and set up a time to meet.

 

                                                                          

  • Student Health Clinic
    • Located in A-180, students who are currently enrolled and attending classes in the San Diego Community College District are eligible to receive services from the Student Health Clinic. Many basic primary care services are available on-campus in our convenient and cost-effective clinic.   • Mental Health Counseling 
    • Located in A-180, Mental Health Counseling offers a wide range of services to enrolled students, including:

      • Couple counseling

      • Individual counseling

      • Family counseling
      • Group counseling
      • Case management
      • Community referrals
      • Crisis intervention
      • Workshops
      • Trainings

Welcome Home City (WHC) is a program designed to support homeless and housing insecure City College students. The WHC team assists students in securing sustainable, long-term housing solutions that support our students' mental health and academic journeys. Once a student connects with the WHC team, they may become eligible for the following: stability-focused general counseling, case management, housing navigation, limited financial assistance, in addition to regularly updated resources.

Welcome Home City is available for walk-in consultations between 10-2 M-Th, 10-1 Fri, where you can speak with a staff member, housing navigator, or general counselor with any questions you may have about Welcome Home City.

CalFresh is a federal program that helps students buy groceries. In order to receive CalFresh, students must:

a. Meet at least ONE of the following:
                                          i.    Be approved for Federal Work Study award this academic year, and anticipating work

                                         ii.    Receiving Cal Grant A/B funded by TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

                                        iii.    Working 20+ hours per week/ 80+ hours per month

                                       iv.    Be working on campus at SDCC

                                         v.    Be a parenting student (with a child 12 or younger)

                                       vi.    Enrolled in a Local Program that Increases Employability, see if your major is an approved program: bit.ly/cityLPIES! 

                                      vii.    Receiving SSI/SSP or have a disability preventing you from work (must be verified by a physician.

b. Students can Take this 1 minute, anonymous quiz to see if they might be eligible for CalFresh benefits.
