Abstract

MASAHIRO OMAE, ALUMNUS AND PROFESSOR OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

Masahiro “Masa” Omae was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1977. He came to the United States as an exchange student in 1995, his last year of high school. Masa graduated from San Diego High School and went on to study Political Science at San Diego City College with an A.A. degree. He continued his academic career at California State University, Sacramento completing his B.A. and a M.A., and received his Ph.D. in Political Science from University of California, Riverside in 2012.

In Spring 2014, Masa joined the City College History and Political Science Department as the only full-time Political Science faculty member. Masa’s interview covers his acculturation and adaptation process as an international student, his experience working on local and national political campaigns, and his interest in international relations and human rights. Masa got involved in political campaigns and interned with elected officials as a student at City College.
